Bhante Sugandha

Phra Anil Sakya, Ph.D AKA Bhikkhu Sugandha born in Nepal. He became a novice when he was 14 years old and took his Bhikkhu ordination in Thailand in 1980.

He received several awards and scholarships from His and Her Majesty the King and Queen of Thailand. He is an assistant secretary to His Holiness the Supreme Patriach of Thailand.

He is also a lecturing Professor in Mahidol University and Mahamakut Buddhist University in Thailand.

Academic Background University Education:
- Ph.D in Social Anthropology, Brunel University, Uxbridge, Middlesex, UK.
- MPhil in Social Anthropology, Christ's College, Cambridge University, UK.
- M.A. (1st Division) in Anthropology, Kirtipur Campus, Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal.
- B.A. (Honours) in Sociology, Mahamakut Buddhist University, Bangkok, Thailand.

Research conducted in several areas concerning Buddhist practices Religious Education:
- Nak Dhamma Ek, the highest level on Buddhist Studies of Thai Ecclesiastical Council.
- Forth Class of Nepal Baudha Pariyati Siksha of All Nepal Bhikkhu Association.

Other Selected Significant Achievements:
- Received several awards and scholarships from His and Her Majesty the King and Queen of Thailand.
- Work experience included many distinguished posts such as assistant secretary to His Holiness the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand, and lectured in many universities in U.S.A, Thailand, and Nepal.
- Proficient in Nepal Bhasa, Nepali, Hindi, Thai, Pali, and English. - Published many books on Buddhism, as well as numerous articles in many journals and magazines.
- Religious Activities have included many sermons, public talks, and seminars on Buddhism and anthropology.
- Represented Buddhism in many inter-religious dialogues and conferences involving a number of foreign countries and religions.
- Other extra activities have included being president of Cambridge University Buddhist Society and President of Thai-Nepal Society on Thailand.
