Dr. Eng Kong Tan

Dr Eng Kong Tan is Chairman of Metta Clinic, a group psychological practice in Pymble, Sydney. He was formerly a lecturer in the Dept of Psychological Medicine in University Malaya, KL.

In his pursuit for a continuing understanding of the working of the mind, he came to Sydney to specialize in the psychotherapy.

In the last 3 decades his contribution to psychotherapy include being Chair of the Section of Psychotherapy of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychotherapy and 8 years chairman of training of the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Association of Australia.

Currently he is on the faculty of 3 psychotherapy training institutes.

In his medical student day, Dr Tan experienced being a novice monk during a university vacation period.

In 1971, he founded the Young Buddhist Association of Malaysia ( YBAM )

Dr Tan is a popular speaker on the subject of Buddhism and Psychotherapy. He is well known for his wit, clarity, sense of humour and light heartedness to simultaneously entertain and educate his audiences.
