Sister Chandasiri
Sister Chandasiri was born in Scotland and, after serving as an occupational therapist for a number of years, was one of the first four women to be ordained as an "Anagarika" by Ajahn Sumedho in 1979 at the newly-established Chithurst Forest Monastery in England.
In 1983, Ajahn Sumedho, wishing to provide a fuller training for the nuns, ordained nuns as alms mendicants - on Ten Precepts. Since then she has been living as a "Silandhara" in the monastic communities at Amaravati and Chithurst, participating in the evolving training for mendicant nuns of the Theravada Tradition. She also teaches retreats in the UK and abroad.
